Access Bars Workshop

65142787_2371330126485987_702516534907502592_n.jpg

What are “The Bars”?
The Bars are a series of 32 points on the head, which when lightly touched release old energies stuck in the brain and the body, allowing for tremendous and easy change.

What does a Bars session do?
The Bars takes all the considerations, thoughts, feelings, emotions, decisions, judgments, and beliefs from any lifetime, that are electrically stored in the brain and releases them. This release occurs when the bars are touched; it allows that stored junk to be released.

What can you expect after receiving the Bars?
Every Bars session is different. The worst that can happen after a Bars session is you feel as relaxed as if you had received a great massage. The best that can happen is your whole life can change.

How long does the effect of a Bars session last?
Once you have your Bars done, the Bars “run” or continue to release stuck energy forever. Every time you have it done after that, the effect becomes more dynamic.

Love yourself, heal your life workshop!

The two-day workshop on Heal your life is a powerful and transformational experience.

The workshop was developed by Louise Hay in the 1980’s. Louise Hay was a healer and motivational speaker. Worked extensively with dysfunctional families all over the world.

The workshop is based on the philosophy of Louise Hay. It covers four aspects of ourselves- mind, body, emotions and spirit. Through exercises, meditations and visualizations, participants are invited to uncover repressed emotions, outdated limiting beliefs, repetitive patterns of behavior. Participants get to understand how these patterns could be sabotaging one’s life in the present; and, not allowing one to live a life of abundance.

The workshop offers profound insight into the relationship between the mind and body. Exploring the way that limiting thoughts and ideas control and constrict us; and understanding the connection between our physical illnesses and our mindsets.

The safe and private space of the workshop allows the participants to get in touch with their inner child; the unexpressed, unmet needs; grieve for it and begin the healing process. Through different exercises individuals get to understand themselves deeply; to break through the layers of old conditioning; and find the beauty inside.

A healing process like this in a group exposes participants to others, who are also struggling with pain and inner conflicts. The group healing method of affirmations and support provides for a spiritual experience.

Ragini Rao TSTA (Psychotherapy) is an accredited psychotherapist and certified trainer of the International Transactional Analysis Association. She has 25 years & over 5000 hours experience in Psychotherapy and Training. Qualified as a licensed workshop leader for ‘Heal your Life’ workshops based on the philosophy of Louise L. Hay. She runs advanced training groups in Transactional Analysis to train individuals to become certified therapists. She has a Masters in Psychology from the Univ. of Delhi.

Acrylic on Canvas - Blue Door

60717151_2331687973577496_7426340003468279808_n.jpg

A brightly colored front door not only adds a fun pop of color and an extra dose of personality to a home, it also has a deeper significance. Like a necktie, which is the focal point of an outfit, the front door is the focal point of the home. A blue front door signals that the homeowner views his or her home as a place of refuge - calm, serene, and relaxing, the perfect retreat from an often harsh and demanding world. Those who paint their doors blue enjoy peace and value truth. They are well grounded and true to themselves. In the Chinese philosophy of feng shui, blue represents water and abundance. It belongs to the water element. A blue front door blue is a good choice because it suggests abundance and prosperity. Of course, its also possible that there was an extra can of blue paint lying around and someone got bored one afternoon! Come paint this happiest of pictures with us.

Kurchigalu (Chairs) - A Kannada Play

Untitled-1-01.jpg

Kurchigalu (Chairs)

Original Playwright: Eugene Ianesco

“I find that the world is a comedy. It is ridiculous. It is comical because it is tragic. I feel that comedy is one side of tragedy. Comedy is the tragedy of tragedy.”     - Eugene Ianesco

Director’s note

Will people remember me? Will my facebook post be liked? Will I reach my potential? Will others like me for me or should I change myself for them? Will my boss like me? Is there life after death? These are some of the questions that have haunted human existence for sometime now and also some of the central themes of the play kurchigalu. Here, the old man’s struggle for being remembered slowly turns into desperation. The climax of this struggle and the story is open to audience interpretation.

‘Kurchigalu’ falls into the category of ‘Theatre of the Absurd’. Theatre of the absurd often moves away from the concept of ‘Well made theatre’. It breaks away from what is considered normal  in realistic theatre . The characters in an absurd play usually have monotonous lives but become confused when they face the absurd world outside of them.

It is believed that it easy to label something as mad, but equally hard to accept the madness, the absurdity within us. Theatre of the Absurd encourages us to find our own truths in what it considers a largely absurd, ultimately meaningless world.

So our request to you is keep an open mind, to get curious, go with the flow, question, seek answers on the way, expect the unexpected and make as many meanings of this story as you want. As Peter Brooks once famously stated “Play with the play!”.

Tickets - ₹200

A Doctor Decides to Eat Well

A Doctor decides to eat healthy-2.png

Justbe invites you to a free talk + Q & A by Dr Rajiv Bajekal from NHS, UK. During his career as a surgeon and with his vast experience in the medical field, he has learnt the benefits of a good diet and how it can make miracles in people’s lives.

He will talk about how to prevent and reverse chronic lifestyle diseases like hypertension and diabetes using your own eating habits and lifestyle as the tool to do so. He will also share his own story on how he reversed his own pre-diabetes, lost excess weight, regained youthful energy and is now helping many of his patients to lead a healthy life without prescription medication. This talk is for everyone who has an interest in staying or becoming healthy, overcoming fatigue and warding off avoidable lifestyle diseases.

About Dr Rajiv Bajekal:

Dr Rajiv Bajekal is an experienced Orthopaedic Surgeon with an interest in spinal surgery. He was appointed Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon in 1998 and has been working in London at the Royal Free London NHS foundation Trust since 2002. He has published widely and lectures Nationally and Internationally besides being a Senior examiner for the FRCS Orthopaedics.

In 2016, he had some personal health problems and had put on a lot of weight with time in the UK. He and his wife researched diet and nutrition and he embarked on a way of living a healthier life with compassion and care for the environment. In the process, he lost 25 kg of weight, reversed his pre-diabetes and found a new zest for helping patients live a healthier life.

He decided to study lifestyle medicine as a lot of the disorders affecting people nowadays are lifestyle related and he and his wife (Consultant Gynaecologist) both studied and passed the Diploma examination in Lifestyle Medicine conducted by the American board of lifestyle medicine, He and his wife Nitu are now certified lifestyle medicine practitioners with a Diploma from the International Board of Lifestyle Medicine - by far his proudest achievement.

Dr Bajekal is particularly keen to find simple and often non-surgical solutions for patients in severe pain and practices lifestyle medicine to look at problems more holistically rather than just the presenting problem.

Lifestyle medicine is a relatively new approach to the management of chronic diseases as a result of widespread recognition that conditions such as Coronary Heart Disease, Hypertension, Diabetes etc. are totally preventable and can be reversed or ‘cured’ by changes in lifestyle, because they are in fact caused largely by lifestyle especially dietary excesses.

There is little doubt that conditions such as Diabetes, Hypertension, Cardiac problems, Eczema, Asthma, Alzheimer’s disease and indeed even a lot of Cancers are related to the lifestyle of the patient. Until now, these were often blamed on ‘bad genes’ or unavoidable.

While the ill effects of smoking, overuse of alcohol, stress and lack of sleep are more clearly accepted by patients, they are often sensitive about their diet and most believe they have a ‘healthy diet’, based on what they have read. Chronic health conditions cannot be managed purely by medication. That is a very naïve way of looking at it. Real change though must come from the patient. A lifestyle medicine practitioner is trained to give guidance, motivate, monitor change and assist the patient in a quest for better health. He and his wife now practice medicine holistically - looking at the causes and prevention of chronic illness while at the same time treating problems. They also lecture on lifestyle medicine and prevention of long term ill health.

Songs of Sleep

Songs of Sleep

Put to bed the worries off the top of your head for now- your expectations, disappointments, and even your resolutions and high points.

We, Deepthi and Akash shall take you through an hour of calm, singing lullabies in different languages; mostly from our subcontinent.

What are the concerns that you want to say good night to, at present? - So that you can sleep over them and wake up to newer (and hopefully “better”) ways of perceiving them?

What are the things, parallel-y, that you may want to say good night to, forever?

What do you associate lullabies with? Swings, being held and cradled, comforted and loved, peace? We hope that you can revisit some of these memories of solace on this restful evening.

-----------------------------------

Deepthi Bhaskar is a trained classical singer who has a soft corner and talent for the culinary arts. The music classes she conducts springs from her conviction that everyone can and should sing. She channels her restlessness by developing and curating music for national and international theatrical productions, and by wandering to places that feed her soul.

Akash Narendran’s singing is informed by carnatic, bhajan and choral training. He is passionate about intersectional social justice, the performing arts and community stories. When not considering disturbing the status quo, he loves putting people at ease.

------------------------------

Bring your parents and your partners to Songs of Sleep. Bring lovers, bring your friends. Bring your children. Tell colleagues. Bring yourselves.

Please arrive by 7:15 PM, we shall begin at 7:30.

It provides an introduction to freestyle rap from the perspective of the enlightened mind. Blending awareness meditation, Buddhist theory of mind, the energetic signature of language, and tried-and-true rap secrets, this workshop will unleash your inner MC and get you in touch with a deeper part of yourself. Discover the fire in your voice!

The workshop includes:
An explanation of the creative mind from the Buddhist perspective
An awareness meditation designed to awaken participants to the moment and the boundless, bright silence that lies behind all sound
A series of breakout rap sessions, each of which will focus on a different technique that accelerates freestyle energy
A classic cipher to close the event out
The Art of Freestyle is a free event. No prior rap experience is required, but if you have rapped before, get ready to spit fire.

About the Teacher:
Carter Ruff is a rare combination: a Buddhist rapper with a daily meditation practice. A veteran MC with eight years of freestyle rap experience, Carter discovered meditation in 2016 and has been sitting ever since. He has received a formal initiation into the Kaygu lineage of Tibetan Mahamudra and is passionate about using Buddhism's advanced spiritual vocabulary to understand something as modern as rap music.

Brahma Kumaris Raja Yoga Meditation

Raja Yoga is an ancient system of meditation and spiritual understanding. It enables us to return to a state of inner peace, personal power and self-worth through re-kindling the soul's original qualities and virtues. It provides many answers to age-old questions relating to our identity and purpose and opens up a pathway to true peace of mind and a natural state of happiness.

Raja Yoga meditation gives you a clear spiritual understanding of yourself, helps you re–discover and use the positive qualities already latent within you. It helps you to create new attitudes and develop new responses. Like any skill, this requires practice. By doing a little meditation every day, it soon becomes a natural and easy habit, which generously rewards you for the effort it involves.
